• Subpoenas, court orders, search warrants, and other types of formal legal processes are examples of these requests. If such demands are valid under financial regulations and other applicable laws, we must comply.

• Each request is carefully assessed by a team of qualified experts who follow established protocols to determine its legal adequacy if required, we will narrow or reject requests that appear to be unduly broad or imprecise. The graphs below show data on the number of requests we've received and how we've handled them, broken down by country. As we continue to improve our services, we will publish this report annually, subject to some limits, to improve our systems.

Important Points to Remember

• In the first three quarters of 2021, there were 5,562 requests, with 51 percent of them coming from outside the United States.

• The United States, the UK, and Germany account for 84 percent of all requests.

• Latvia, Greece, India, Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, and Russia are the countries that submitted requests for the first time in 2021.

• The total number of requests we received in the first three quarters of this year was 27% higher than the total number of requests we received in the entire year of 2020.
